On December 22, 2022, Chomthana, the Thai subsidiary of Yili Group, received the FDA Quality Award for the third consecutive year. As a national award administrated by Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA), it recognizes Yili’s commitment in empowering Chomthana to improve quality management and develop premium and healthy products for global consumers.
FDA Quality Award is awarded to enterprises that has demonstrated excellence in product quality, corporate governance, business ethics, CSR practice, and serves as a role model for other businesses in their own respective contributions to public health.
Guided by the corporate belief that “Yili means the best quality”, the Group has continued to strengthen Chomthana’s capabilities in quality control, production, operation, and talent development, leading to a rapid growth of the subsidiary. This commitment has been noticed and has already begun to bear fruit as Chomthana’s products are increasingly chosen and favored by more and more Southeast Asian consumers.
In 2022, Chomthana improved quality control over its entire industrial chain to ensure that its production process remains 100% safe, and its products remain 100% healthy. Today, various raw and auxiliary materials are managed based on their varying levels of risk, and corresponding inspection standards have been established. Micro-organisms have been fully examined so as to identify and address potential risks. Onsite security over the manufacturing process has also been enhanced.
Yili has invested in the upgrading of Chomthana’s production line and testing equipment by removing outdated elements and introducing automated manufacturing facilities and quality inspection equipment, ensuring better quality and capacity.
To assemble an even more effective team to oversee quality management, Yili supports Chomthana in aligning its quality management standards with that of the Group, presents good practices, provides remote trainings and sets goals for Chomthana employees to achieve ever improving performances. As a result, Chomthana has witnessed increasingly stronger quality control capabilities.
Chomthana works closely with its partners across the entire supply chain, empowering them to improve quality management capabilities and product quality. In response to a cardboard container supplier’s failures to meet quality inspection standards, Chomthana staff visited their factories several times to carry out field research and provided suggestions to the supplier so that quality management requirements were met.
Chomthana’s product R&D has also been on the rise. More innovative products, specifically tailored to the local and diversified consumer tastes, have been launched, resulting in the company offering over 70 different ice cream products in the Thai market in 2022. Cremo, Chomthana’s most prominent ice cream brand, now ranks in the top three brands holding domestic market share and can now be found in Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and other countries and regions.
