Yili Provides Nutrition and Care for Frontline Medical Workers in Thailand to Support the Global Battle Against the Pandemic
As the third wave of the pandemic continues to spread in Thailand, the situation in Pathum Thani Province is particularly critical, with the province having been classified as one of the areas under the strictest levels of control. From May 24 to 25, Chomthana, a Thai ice cream producer acquired by Yili, donated Cremo ice cream worth 300,000 baht to five hospitals in Pathum Thani Province which have been designated for the treatment of patients diagnosed with COVID-19, helping to provide nutrition and care for Thailand’s frontline medical workers who are fighting the pandemic. The donation ceremony was attended by Mr. Chaiwat Chuenkosoom, Governor of Pathum Thani Province, Mr. Setharat Luedsakul, Head of the Industrial Office of Pathum Thani Province, Mr. Saksin Tulathon, Head of the Office of Labor Protection and Welfare, Mr. Somporn Thawipot, Undersecretary of the Government of Lat Lum Kaeo, officials of the Government of Khu Bang Luang and representatives from the hospitals.
The hospitals designated for the treatment of patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in Pathum Thani Province are Thammasat, Thammasat University Field Hospital, Pathumthani, Ladlumkaew and Siam St. Carlos. It is reported that these five hospitals have as many as 6,350 medical workers, and are responsible for the treatment of patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in the Province as well as providing vaccinations. In order to protect the lives and health of patients, these hospitals are now working overtime every day. Wearing full medical protective gear, the healthcare workers stay at their posts around the clock and are in urgent need of stronger support.
On the morning of May 24, representatives from Chomthana, the Industrial Office of Pathum Thani Province, the Welfare and Labor Security Office, the Government of Lat Lum Kaeo and the Government of Khu Bang Luang visited Pathumthani, Siam St. Carlos and Ladlumkaew, delivering nutritious and delicious Cremo ice cream and other food to the frontline medical workers to help them relieve stress and fatigue and support their efforts to fight the pandemic.
In the afternoon of the next day, Mr. Chaiwat Chuenkosoom, Governor of Pathum Thani Province, and representatives from Chomthana traveled to Thammasat and Sanam Thammasat Hospital and donated Cremo ice cream there as well. Speaking at the donation ceremony, Mr. Chaiwat Chuenkosoom said, “I’m very glad to see Chomthana donating ice cream to the medical workers. On behalf of the people of Pathum Thani Province, I would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude!” Mr. Surapon Nitikraipot, Chairman of the Council of Thammasat, said, “We believe that with your support, we can do everything possible to take care of our people’s health and safety and fight against the pandemic together.”
Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Thailand, Yili has been on the frontlines of the battle against the pandemic. On May 8, 2020, Chomthana, together with the Thailand Siam Dragon Association, donated 170,000 protective masks and some medical protective clothing to the Thailand Ministry of Public Health, the Royal Thai Police, the Thai Red Cross Society and Pathum Thani Province. After the outbreak of the pandemic in Samut Sakhon Province on December 19, 2020, Chomthana lost no time in delivering 20,000 medical protective masks, medical protective clothing and Ambrosial yogurt to the COVID-19 Response Center in Samut Sakhon Province.
The global pandemic is not over yet, and concerted efforts are still required to fight against COVID-19. As a leading food and beverage company, Yili will continue to build a stronger defense line against the pandemic during these challenging times.
